Emergent BioSolutions lands $200M+ in global biodefense contracts by 2026

Emergent BioSolutions has secured multiple high-value contracts to bolster global biodefence efforts. The company recently announced agreements worth up to C$140 million with the Canadian government. Additional deals with an unnamed international partner and US authorities further expand its role in smallpox preparedness.

On 25 March 2026, an international government partner placed new orders for Emergent's ACAM2000® smallpox vaccine. The deal, valued at $6.6 million USD, supports the country's ongoing biodefence strategy. This follows a long-standing relationship with the same customer.

The Government of Canada has also committed to multi-year agreements with Emergent, reaching up to C$140 million. Over C$35 million of this funding is allocated for 2026 alone. The contracts aim to strengthen Canada's infrastructure for responding to biologic threats. In a separate move, the US Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) awarded Emergent a $54 million contract. This agreement covers the supply of CNJ-016, another smallpox countermeasure, reinforcing US stockpiles for potential outbreaks.

These contracts highlight Emergent's growing involvement in global health security. The company now supplies smallpox vaccines and treatments to multiple governments under long-term agreements. Deliveries and funding will continue through 2026 and beyond.
