Navi Mumbai's healthcare gets a major boost with new advanced facilities
Navi Mumbai has expanded its healthcare services with a series of new facilities. Maharashtra Forest Minister Ganesh Naik officially launched these upgrades, which include advanced medical centres and digital tools for public use. The newly inaugurated 3 Tesla MRI Centre at Vashi Public Hospital now offers affordable scans. Plain MRI scans cost Rs. 1,775 for admitted patients and Rs. 2,663 for out-patients, while contrast scans are priced at Rs. 1,810 and Rs. 2,715 respectively.
Additional facilities were also launched across the city. Cath Labs at Vashi and Airoli hospitals will improve neurovascular and cardiac care. Dialysis centres opened at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Bhavan in CBD Belapur and Swami Vivekananda Bhavan in Vashi. A modern modular mortuary at Vashi Public Hospital now features a walk-in cold room, expanded storage, and better record-keeping systems.
Other key additions include a Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) at Vashi Public Hospital to reduce infection risks. A Human Milk Bank at Maasaheb Meenatai Thackeray Hospital in Nerul will support premature and critically ill newborns. An online Hospital Bed Availability Dashboard was also introduced to provide real-time information on bed availability.
Beyond these, a veterinary hospital in Juinagar and an Urban Primary Health Centre in Mahape were inaugurated, further expanding local healthcare access. The new facilities and digital tools aim to improve medical care across Navi Mumbai. Residents now have better access to advanced treatments, diagnostic services, and real-time hospital information. These upgrades are expected to strengthen the city’s healthcare infrastructure significantly.
