City Launches Two New Centers to Combat Domestic Violence in 2026

Starting 1 January 2026, two new counselling centres will open in the city to tackle domestic violence. Senator for Women’s Affairs Claudia Bernhard has designated them as key resources for support. Both centres aim to address violence in relationships and provide help to those affected. The Counseling and Intervention Center for Relationship Violence, run by the Inner Mission Association, will offer specialised support for victims. It provides a safe space for processing experiences of violence, respecting the autonomy of individuals, including women, non-binary, intersex, trans, and men.

Intervention.Plus, operated by the Hoppenbank Association, will focus on perpetrators. Its proactive counselling aims to help them permanently stop violent behaviour. Both centres will assist victims and perpetrators in building lives free from violence.

The goal of Intervention.Plus is to prevent further acts of violence. Together, the two centres will work to ensure effective protection and long-term change. The new centres will begin operations in early 2026. They will provide tailored support for victims and perpetrators alike. Their establishment marks a structured effort to reduce domestic violence in the community.
