Russia launches free reproductive health screenings for women nationwide
Russia has launched a free reproductive health screening programme for women. The initiative is part of the Family national project, backed by President Vladimir Putin. It aims to detect early signs of diseases that often show no symptoms. The programme covers a range of tests tailored to different age groups. These include gynecological exams, Pap smears, PCR tests for infections and HPV, and ultrasounds. Regular checkups are vital for spotting conditions like cervical dysplasia and breast tumours before they cause harm.
Women aged 18 to 45 are advised to visit a gynaecologist once or twice a year. Those over 45 or experiencing menopause should attend at least once annually. Early detection of cervical dysplasia and cancer can prevent progression and preserve fertility, as these conditions often develop without pain.
Appointments can be booked through the Gosuslugi portal or by phoning the Healthcare Ministry hotline at 8-800-550-00-00. The programme is fully funded by the state and requires no payment from participants. By offering accessible screenings, it seeks to improve early diagnosis and treatment outcomes. Women across Russia can now take advantage of these services to monitor their reproductive health.
