Christmas miracle arrives as baby Dua Perkola is born at dawn

A baby girl named Dua Perkola was born on Christmas Eve at Amstetten Regional Hospital. She arrived at 4:25 a.m., marking a special start to the festive day for her family. Dua Perkola is the second daughter of Mirlinda and Florian Perkola. She weighed 3,510 grams and measured 52 centimetres at birth. Petra Riesenhuber, the head midwife, along with her team, welcomed the newborn.

The hospital has seen growing demand from parents in the Ybbstal region. This follows the closure of the Waidhofen/Ybbs baby unit two years ago. Dua’s arrival was the 858th birth at Amstetten Regional Hospital in 2022. The facility offers continuous care from midwives, nurses, and doctors, even on public holidays. Dua Perkola’s birth adds to the hospital’s busy year. The first baby born in the new year at Amstetten Regional Hospital will later receive special recognition. The facility remains a key centre for maternal care in the area.
