RQ Bio Secures Funding to Advance Universal Flu Antibody RQB01

RQ Bio has secured new financing to advance its lead programme, RQB01, a long-acting antibody designed to provide broad protection against influenza. The funding round was led by Frazier Life Sciences, with support from several other investors. CEO Mike Westby highlighted the ongoing threat of influenza for patients who cannot rely on vaccination alone. The company’s lead candidate, RQB01, is currently in IND-enabling studies. It targets conserved epitopes that remain resilient to seasonal changes. This dual mechanism of action aims to deliver potent neutralising activity, broad strain coverage, and an extended duration of effect.

RQ Bio believes RQB01 could become a key tool for influenza prophylaxis in vulnerable groups. Prophylactic treatments like this may help prevent the spread of the virus and ease pressure on healthcare systems. Christian S. Schade has also joined the company as Executive Chairman to support its development. The financing round included EQT Life Sciences, Forbion, Monograph, Wellington Management, and LifeArc Ventures. With RQB01 progressing through studies, the company aims to establish a new approach to influenza prevention. The antibody’s design focuses on long-lasting, broad protection for those most at risk.
