Palghar launches bold healthcare reforms to save lives and upgrade services

The district administration of Palghar has announced a series of new measures to improve healthcare services. The initiatives aim to strengthen maternal and child healthcare, enhance emergency medical response, and upgrade public health infrastructure across the region. Several new hospitals were added to the district’s healthcare network in May 2026. This expansion increases access to quality medical services for local residents.

To boost emergency care, GPS-based tracking will be introduced for 108 and 102 ambulance services in remote talukas. This system is expected to reduce response times for critical cases. Medical Officers have also been directed to remain at their assigned Primary Health Centres and Rural Hospitals to ensure immediate availability of healthcare.

For maternal and child health, the district will review every maternal death in detail. These reviews will identify systemic gaps and improve referral systems. Additionally, Maternal and Child Control Rooms have been set up at district, taluka, and PHC levels to monitor pregnant women and newborns.

The district will also conduct screenings for Sickle Cell Disease for individuals aged 0-40 years. Targeted interventions will address severe anaemia cases. Women’s Self-Help Groups will prepare nutritious supplementary food for malnourished children in vulnerable areas.

Proposals are being prepared for advanced TB diagnostic machines and digital X-ray facilities. Ayushman Bharat registration camps will be organised alongside Revenue Department camps to ensure full coverage of eligible beneficiaries. These measures are set to enhance healthcare delivery in Palghar. The upgrades will provide better emergency response, maternal care, and diagnostic services. Residents will benefit from improved access to medical facilities and preventive health interventions.
