Woman's 'Pregnancy-Like' Abdomen Hides Rare 3.5-Liter Ovarian Cyst

A 30-year-old woman in Yakutia was diagnosed with a giant ovarian cyst after her abdomen swelled to the size of a nine-month pregnancy. She had endured persistent dull pain and swelling for six months before seeking help. A team of mobile physicians in Momsky District first identified the massive cyst. The patient denied being pregnant despite her visibly enlarged abdomen. She was then rushed to the Yakutsk Republican Clinical Hospital for emergency surgery.

The procedure took place in the hospital’s Gynecology Department No. 1. Surgeons removed a cyst containing nearly 3.5 litres of fluid. Doctors later confirmed the surgery was successful, and the woman recovered well enough to return home in good health. Medical experts noted that cysts of this size are extremely rare and can be life-threatening. They urged the public to attend regular check-ups and seek early specialist care for any concerning symptoms.
