Faith and unity drive change at 27 Avenue Prayer Breakfast

Local leaders gathered at Grand Canyon University for the second annual 27 Avenue Prayer Breakfast. The event brought together representatives from churches, businesses, non-profits, and schools to focus on community transformation. Its theme, 'Dependence in the Lord', set the tone for the morning’s discussions and prayers. The breakfast was presented by 27Collab, a community group working to improve the 27 Ave. corridor through safety, restoration, and redevelopment. Attendees included leaders from education, law enforcement, business, and faith-based organisations, all united in their commitment to the area’s growth.

Pastor John Ramos of Love International Ministries noted the diversity of the group. He emphasised the church’s role in driving positive change within the community. Each representative took a moment to pray for their respective groups, stressing the importance of faith in their work.

Miguel and Gladys Perez, co-founders of Starts with the Heart, shared their personal story. They spoke of their journey from meeting in a drug house to leading a non-profit that supports homeless and underserved families. Eric and Eileen Bolze, co-owners of E2 Innovations, also spoke, comparing a life filled with love to a pleasing aroma to Christ. GCU police officer Francisco Lerma-Trillo added his testimony, describing how a near-death experience led him to faith. The prayer breakfast reinforced the idea of grounding all efforts in prayer. It highlighted the collective commitment to transforming the 27 Ave. corridor into a thriving hub for neighbourhoods, education, and business. The event underscored the power of unity and faith in driving community progress.
