Madhya Pradesh Launches Free Cancer Screening for Women at Local Clinics

The National Health Mission (NHM) has launched a cancer screening programme in Madhya Pradesh. Women can now access early detection services at primary health centres (PHCs) and community health centres (CHCs). The initiative aims to improve treatment outcomes through timely identification of cancer. Screening will begin at the nearest PHC or district hospital. If symptoms are detected, patients will be sent for further treatment without delay. Pre-cancerous cases can be managed locally, reducing the need for complex interventions.

Thermal ablation devices will be installed in all district hospitals to treat minor cervical cancer lesions. Serious cases will be referred to specialist centres for advanced care. This includes medical, surgical, radiation, chemotherapy, and follow-up services.

NHM has emphasised that all examinations will be conducted with dignity, trust, and confidentiality. Early detection remains a key factor in increasing the success of cancer treatment. The programme ensures women receive screening and treatment close to home where possible. Complex cases will still receive specialised care at higher-level facilities. The focus remains on early diagnosis and respectful, accessible healthcare.
