Mpox case confirmed in Mandaluyong City amid declining infections
The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed a case of Mpox in Mandaluyong City on 29 June 2026. Officials have stated there is no cause for alarm, as the situation remains under control. From 1 January to 13 June 2026, the country recorded 44 Mpox cases. This figure is 79% lower than the 205 cases reported during the same period last year. The DOH has emphasised that no outbreak or rise in infections has occurred.
The agency has left case management to the local government unit of Mandaluyong City. It has also chosen not to disclose details about individual cases to prevent stigma and uphold data privacy laws. The DOH maintains that the confirmed case does not warrant panic. The overall number of infections continues to decline compared to previous years. Local authorities are handling the situation according to established protocols.
