Kazakhstan celebrates medical breakthroughs at neurosurgery congress

Kazakhstan is marking Medical Workers’ Day this year. The celebration aligns with the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence and the VI Congress of Neurosurgeons. The event highlights the nation’s advancements in medical science. The congress took place at the National Center for Neurosurgery in Astana, a facility opened 18 years ago. Known globally, the centre has hosted major international neurosurgical forums and attracts medical tourists from abroad. It also houses Central Asia’s only Gamma Knife, offering free treatment to Kazakh citizens.

Over 200 specialists gathered for the event. Serik Akshulakov, President of the Kazakh Association of Neurosurgeons, delivered an address. More than 50 presentations covered the latest developments in neurosurgery.

Two residents received the Serik Akshulakov Prize during the congress. In addition, 18 veteran specialists were awarded medals for their contributions to the field. The VI Congress of Neurosurgeons brought together leading experts to share knowledge and honour achievements. The event underscored Kazakhstan’s growing reputation in neurosurgical care and innovation. Medical Workers’ Day was celebrated alongside these milestones.
