Nori Complex: The Algae-Based Breakthrough for Stronger, Frizz-Free Hair

A new haircare ingredient called Nori Complex has been developed using sustainably sourced algae. It aims to restore hair strength and reduce frizz. The product comes as demand for natural and eco-friendly haircare continues to rise. Provital created Nori Complex from Nori, a type of algae rich in protein, amino acids, and polysaccharides. These components help repair hair and improve its vitality. The complex works by distributing active molecules along the hair shaft, moisturising it and cutting down frizz.

Marine brown algae extract, such as Ecklonia cava, is also gaining attention. It protects hair follicles and the scalp, making hair more manageable. Another variety, dried red algal biomass (Porphyridium), is part of a pending patent for a haircare formula designed to maintain hair thickness and density.

Consumer interest in such products is growing. Natural and eco-labelled haircare has seen the fastest growth over the past five years. Currently, 37% of female users seek natural or organic ingredients, while 22% prioritise eco-friendly options. Nori Complex and similar algae-based ingredients are entering the market with clear benefits for hair repair and maintenance. Their sustainable sourcing aligns with increasing consumer preference for natural and environmentally conscious products. The trend shows no signs of slowing down.
