Wilhelm Busch School tackles inactive mold in phased renovations
Wilhelm Busch Elementary School is addressing a mold issue affecting around 3,100 square meters of ceiling space across three floors. The problem does not pose an acute health risk to students or staff, as the mold is no longer active. The school has identified the mold in its ceilings but confirmed that no moisture remains, reducing health concerns. The city council has not yet formally approved the full renovation plan, yet work has already started in the basement.
Basement renovations should finish by the start of the summer break, allowing these areas to serve as temporary classrooms. The process aims to avoid any disruption to teaching spaces. After the basement, work will move to Building 1 on the southwest side, then Building 2 on the northeast side, and finally the central administrative wing. The inactive mold requires remediation as a preventive measure. Once completed, the school will have fully addressed the issue without interrupting lessons. The renovations will ensure a safe environment for children and staff.
