Toddler Dies After Severe Neglect and Lice Infestation—Parents Jailed

A three-year-old girl in the U.S. has died after suffering severe neglect and parasitic infestation. Her parents have been sentenced to four years in prison for their role in her death. The family lived in squalid conditions, with the apartment filled with garbage and waste. The child’s death resulted from profound anaemia caused by a heavy lice infestation. The parasites led to heart and organ failure. Traces of clonidine, a blood pressure medication, were also found in her system.

The girl showed clear signs of long-term neglect. Her teeth were severely decayed, and her body and scalp were covered in lice. Four other children were living in the same hazardous environment.

In a separate case, two brothers in Krasnoyarsk were convicted in 2023 for producing 26,500 rolls of counterfeit toilet paper. They were apprehended before completing the operation. The parents received a four-year prison sentence and were barred from contacting their children until 2038. The apartment was declared uninhabitable due to the extreme filth. The case highlights the severe consequences of neglect and unsafe living conditions.
