Russian Scientists Develop Breakthrough Treatment for Acute Pancreatitis

Researchers at Novosibirsk State Medical University have created a new treatment for acute pancreatitis. The method is currently under patent review. It aims to improve recovery and reduce hospital stays for patients with the condition. The treatment involves a two-step process. First, a painkiller combined with hyaluronidase is injected into the liver’s round ligament. Then, a small amount of the patient’s own platelet-rich plasma is injected near the pancreas to help repair damaged tissue.

The procedure is repeated until inflammation decreases. Doctors monitor progress using ultrasound and laboratory tests after five days. Clinical trials showed faster recovery and shorter hospital stays compared to standard treatment.

The new approach also cuts treatment time and lowers complication risks. In the control group, complications occurred in 60% of cases with traditional methods. The developers state that this technique can be used in hospitals of different levels. The patent for the treatment has already been filed. Early results suggest it offers better outcomes than current options. Hospitals may soon adopt this method to improve care for acute pancreatitis patients.
