Cheri Oteri Reveals Breast Cancer Removal, How Jill Biden Was "So Supportive": "I Was Blown Away"

Cheri Oteri opens up about breast cancer surgery and recovery journey

Comedian Cheri Oteri has revealed she recently underwent successful surgery for breast cancer. She was diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS), an early form of the disease. Oteri has since emphasised the importance of regular mammograms for early detection. The diagnosis came around the time of the Milken Institute dinner. There, Oteri met First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, with whom she bonded over their shared connection to Pennsylvania. She later described it as serendipitous to be surrounded by women’s healthcare professionals and Dr. Biden at the event.

Oteri initially received a recommendation for more aggressive treatment from her first doctor. She decided to seek a second opinion before proceeding. After her second lumpectomy, she reported feeling great, with results appearing normal.

Throughout her surgery and recovery, Dr. Jill Biden offered her support. The First Lady has long been involved in breast health advocacy, leading the Biden Breast Health Initiative since 1993. Oteri’s experience highlights the value of early detection and seeking multiple medical opinions. Her recovery is progressing well, and she continues to encourage others to prioritise regular screenings. Dr. Biden’s ongoing support has been a source of strength during this time.
