Thane Launches Special POSH Compliance Drive To Strengthen Women's Workplace Safety

Thane cracks down on workplace harassment with POSH Act enforcement drive

Thane district administration has launched a special inspection campaign to enforce the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013. The drive aims to ensure a safe and respectful working environment for women across various establishments. The campaign targets government offices, private establishments, schools, colleges, hospitals, malls, hotels, and factories with 10 or more employees. It is led by a team that includes the District Women and Child Development Officer, Child Development Project Officers, and Protection Officers.

Under the campaign, establishments must register on the SHe-Box portal and form an Internal Committee (IC) with a specific composition, including external members. The campaign will verify the formation, composition, and activities of these committees. Establishments are also required to submit annual reports on the IC’s activities and employee training.

The primary objective is to promote the robust implementation of the POSH Act. Non-compliance or violations will lead to strict punitive action. The campaign seeks to enforce the POSH Act and ensure all covered establishments adhere to its provisions. Compliance will help create harassment-free workplaces and protect the rights of women employees. Failure to meet requirements will result in penalties.
