Talaya Health Resort Reopens After a 6 Billion Ruble Transformation
The Talaya health resort has reopened after a major renovation. The grand reopening took place on 12 June 2023, marking the transformation of a modest sanatorium into a modern balneological resort. The project was made possible through a public-private partnership, with Alexander Basanasky serving as the primary investor. The renovation involved a total investment of over 6 billion rubles. More than 1 billion rubles was spent on advanced medical equipment alone. The resort now offers four accommodation buildings, an open-air thermal pool, and a year-round ice rink. It also includes a tennis court and an agricultural complex.
The facility can host up to 320 guests at once. A dedicated children’s wing provides 85 additional beds. The reopening ceremony was attended by local officials, including Sergei Smirnov, Chairman of the Magadan City Duma, and Petr Burmistrov, First Deputy Chairman. Governor Sergei Nosov stressed the social benefits of reviving the resort for regional residents. Petr Burmistrov noted its positive impact on public health in Magadan. Sergei Smirnov also highlighted the importance of the resort’s return for the local community.
