Jack Hibbert, a 22-year-old police officer shot during the Bondi terror attack last December, is recovering in hospital after further medical complications. While undergoing surgery for his gunshot wounds, doctors discovered a benign tumour behind his eye, which required additional treatment in late April. Hibbert was one of the first responding officers to the Bondi attack, having joined the police force just four months earlier. The incident left him with serious injuries, prompting widespread support from the community.
In late April, surgeons removed the tumour, adding to his recovery process. Despite the setbacks, his family recently shared that he is doing well under the circumstances. Public support has been overwhelming. NSW Police Legacy raised over $550,000 for his care, while an online fundraiser brought in more than $120,000. The donations aim to assist with medical expenses and his long-term recovery.
Hibbert remains in hospital as he recovers from both the gunshot wounds and the tumour removal. The funds raised will help cover his ongoing treatment and rehabilitation. His progress continues to be monitored by medical staff and supported by the community.
