Woman with PCOS breaks world record for longest female beard at 11.81 inches

Erin Honeycutt has broken the world record for the longest beard on a living female. Her facial hair now measures 11.81 inches, surpassing the previous title held by Vivian Wheeler. The achievement comes after Honeycutt decided to embrace her natural growth during the pandemic. Honeycutt began growing facial hair at just 13 years old due to polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), a condition that causes excess hair growth. For years, she shaved at least three times a day, feeling self-conscious about her appearance. But in 2020, during the COVID-19 lockdowns, she made the decision to stop shaving and let her beard grow naturally.

Her beard is entirely natural—she takes no hormones or supplements to encourage growth. Despite facing health challenges, including a lower leg amputation from necrotizing fasciitis and an eye stroke that severely limited her vision, Honeycutt remained committed to her choice. Her wife, Jen, and her mother, Jill Roach, have both been supportive of her journey. Guinness World Records officially recognised her beard as the longest on a living female, breaking Vivian Wheeler’s previous record of 10.04 inches.

Honeycutt’s record-setting beard now stands at 11.81 inches. Her decision to grow it has brought attention to both her personal resilience and the effects of PCOS. The achievement marks a shift from years of hiding her facial hair to embracing it publicly.
