Woman Defies Odds After Surviving Life-Threatening Trauma at City Hospital

A female patient in traumatic shock was rushed to City Hospital No. 36, where doctors diagnosed her with a severe head injury, spinal damage, multiple pelvic fractures, and an open leg fracture.

"Most victims with such injuries do not survive until the ambulance arrives," the press service of Sverdlovsk Region's Health Ministry reported.

At the hospital, a team of surgeons, trauma specialists, neurosurgeons, and anesthesiologists-resuscitators pulled the woman back from the brink of death. A month after the incident, she was discharged and is now undergoing rehabilitation.

  • In March, doctors at City Clinical Hospital No. 40 woke patients mid-surgery and asked them 150 questions to test whether their speech and motor functions had been affected during open-brain surgery.
