Wiesbaden’s free event demystifies hospice and palliative care for all

Wiesbaden will host a free information event on hospice and palliative care at City Hall on December 1, 2025. Organised by GereNETZ, the main event aims to help people understand the support available at the end of life. No registration is needed to attend.

The programme, titled Hospiz- und Palliativversorgung, is a joint effort by GereNETZ, the Senior Services Division of Wiesbaden’s Department of Social Affairs, and the Senior Citizens’ Advisory Board. Local hospice and palliative care providers are also involved in planning the event.

Dirk Wingertszahn of St. Joseph’s Hospital Wiesbaden will lead the discussions. A key part of the event will be a narrative showing how hospice teams, doctors, caregivers, and volunteers work together to maintain dignity and quality of life until the very end. Attendees will hear opening remarks from Dr. Patricia Becher, Wiesbaden’s Social Affairs Commissioner, followed by a speech from Angelika Dortmann of the Senior Citizens’ Advisory Board. The focus will remain on practical guidance, emotional support, and the importance of respectful care during life’s final stages. By sharing real-life examples and expert insights, the organisers hope to encourage more people to seek information and accept available support.

The event offers a chance to learn about end-of-life care in a welcoming setting. Free to attend and open to all, it provides clear information on nursing, counselling, and human connection when they matter most. Organisers stress that no prior sign-up is required.
