Vietnamese Women's Group in Belgium Bridges Culture Through Vibrant Community Efforts

The Vietnamese Women's Association in Belgium has made a strong impact since its launch in March 2024. The group, dedicated to preserving Vietnamese culture abroad, has become a lively hub for cultural connection and has earned recognition for its efforts. Its recent success in the 'Vietnamese Tết in me' competition highlights its growing influence within the community.

The association marked its early achievements by securing second prize in the 'Vietnamese Tết in me' competition. It submitted more entries than any other participant, also claiming four additional honours. The event itself was filled with traditional foods like 'bánh chưng' and 'bánh tét', alongside performances by Vietnamese students and the Belhit music ensemble. Games and a festive atmosphere rounded off the celebrations.

Beyond competitions, the group has focused on cultural preservation. A new project aims to establish a Vietnamese Youth Club in Belgium, helping children of Vietnamese descent maintain their language and heritage. Members have also shown deep national pride by joining key events in Vietnam, including the 50th anniversary of reunification and the 80th National Day.

One standout member, Nguyễn Thị Ngân, received official recognition from Vietnam's State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese. Her dedication stems from a life-changing trip to Trường Sa (Spratly) and the DK1 offshore platform, experiences that continue to drive her work with disadvantaged communities in Vietnam.

The association's rapid growth reflects its role as a bridge between Vietnamese traditions and life in Belgium. Through competitions, youth initiatives, and cultural events, it has created a space for connection and pride. Its ongoing projects suggest a lasting commitment to supporting both local and overseas Vietnamese communities.
