Uttar Pradesh launches five new AYUSH colleges to boost medical education
The Uttar Pradesh government is setting up five new Integrated AYUSH Colleges and Hospitals. These institutions will offer courses in traditional and modern health sciences while improving access to medical education across the state. Officials aim to reduce the need for students from remote areas to relocate for training. The colleges will be built in Devipatan, Mirzapur, Meerut, Agra, and Basti divisions. Land has already been identified in Gonda, Mirzapur, Ghaziabad, Agra, and Basti, with the transfer process nearly complete in Basti. Each location will host a centre of excellence for education, research, and innovation in traditional medicine.
The institutions will provide degrees in Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy, and modern health sciences. Research will focus on Ayurvedic medicines, yoga therapy, and lifestyle-based treatments. The goal is to create a skilled workforce for AYUSH-based healthcare services. Officials expect the project to strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s role as a leading hub for AYUSH education and wellness. The initiative will also expand healthcare infrastructure in the region.
The new colleges will help students train closer to home, cutting down on travel to bigger cities. They will also boost research and job opportunities in traditional medicine. Once operational, the institutions are set to play a key role in the state’s healthcare system.
