Umno leader urges stronger support for M40 young women amid rising pressures

Datuk Nurul Amal Mohd Fauzi, the Puteri Umno chief, has called on the government to provide stronger support for young women in the middle-income (M40) group. Speaking at Umno’s 80th anniversary event, she stressed that many of these women face growing economic and social pressures that require long-term solutions.

Nurul Amal warned that temporary relief measures are not enough. Instead, she urged the government to build a sustainable ecosystem that helps young women thrive. One key proposal was expanding access to income-generating opportunities tailored to their needs.

She also highlighted the need for better childcare support. Affordable, safe, and accessible nursery services—especially at workplaces—would ease the burden on working mothers. To further assist families, she suggested increasing tax relief for each child from RM2,000 to RM3,000. Beyond financial aid, she proposed extending the Budi Madani programme to private diesel vehicle owners. This move would broaden the initiative’s reach and provide additional relief. Her focus remained on helping young women balance career demands with family responsibilities without compromising their stability.

The proposals aim to address both immediate and long-term challenges faced by M40 women. If implemented, these measures could provide financial relief, better childcare options, and expanded economic opportunities. The government has yet to respond to her recommendations.
