Two aspiring soldiers, Johndyl Lemosniro and Junel Flores, have died during military training in Capas, Tarlac. Their deaths followed severe health complications caused by extreme physical exertion in high temperatures. The Philippine Army has since expressed its condolences to their families. The incident unfolded when both trainees began showing distressing symptoms. They were quickly rushed to the O'Donnell Medical Treatment Facility (CODMTF) for urgent care. Medical staff performed endotracheal intubation to secure their airways and assist with breathing.
Despite initial efforts, their condition worsened, and they were transferred to Tarlac Provincial Hospital for advanced treatment. Doctors later confirmed that both had suffered from encephalopathy—brain swelling and complications—due to severe heat stroke.
Lemosniro, from New Corella, Davao del Norte, and Flores, from Lamitan City, Basilan, were undergoing standard military instruction at the time. The Philippine Army has reiterated that strict safety policies, medical protocols, and precautionary measures remain in place for all trainees. The Philippine Army has reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare, health, and safety of all recruits. While investigations continue, existing safety measures and medical procedures will stay enforced. The families of the deceased have been offered support during this time.
