Toy turns his hit song into a catchy handwashing anthem for Portugal
Portuguese singer Toy has teamed up with Lisbon’s Portuguese Oncology Institute (IPO Lisboa) to launch a new hand hygiene campaign. The initiative encourages proper handwashing by adapting one of his well-known songs into a hygiene reminder. The campaign centres on a modified version of Toy’s hit Coração Não Tem Idade (A Heart Has No Age). The updated lyrics now stress the importance of washing hands 'day and night'. Health experts often recommend humming a short tune to help people scrub their hands for the full 30 to 40 seconds needed for effective cleaning.
IPO Lisboa advises washing hands between eight and fifteen times daily, depending on individual activities. The partnership aims to make the habit more engaging while reinforcing its role in preventing infections.
The campaign combines music and public health guidance to promote better hygiene practices. By turning a familiar song into a handwashing timer, Toy and IPO Lisboa hope to encourage longer, more thorough cleaning routines. The initiative is now active across Portugal.
