Hospitals to Undergo Renovations During Planned Closures for Disinfection

Sverdlovsk's maternity wards get nature-inspired makeovers to ease childbirth

Hospitals will be renovated during planned closures for disinfection, announced Tatyana Savinova, head of the regional Ministry of Health. By the end of 2026, maternity wards in the form of antique houses and gardens will open in:

• 40th hospital in Ekaterinburg (June-July);
• 14th maternity hospital in Ekaterinburg (October-November);
• Krasnoturinsk hospital (July-August);
• Kamensk-Uralsky maternity hospital (October-November).

New halls, where sounds, smells of forest and sea will be equipped for women in labor, are expected to encourage women to give birth to as many children as possible, according to the Ministry of Health. A total of eight institutions plan to open such maternity wards.
