Solingen Hospital in Talks to Acquire St. Luke's Maxillofacial Surgery Unit

Solingen Municipal Hospital is in talks to take over the Department of Oral, Maxillofacial, and Facial Surgery from Ohligs' St. Luke’s Clinic. The potential move follows discussions with the clinic’s head physician but still requires state approval. Representatives from Solingen Municipal Hospital have confirmed early-stage negotiations. Prof. Martin Eversmeyer, the hospital’s commercial director, and Kai Sturmfels, chairman of the supervisory board, met with the head of facial surgery at St. Luke’s Clinic in Ohligs.

The proposed takeover remains uncertain. Final approval must come from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia before any changes proceed. If the deal goes ahead, Solingen Municipal Hospital would face immediate pressure to expand. Additional facilities would be needed to accommodate the new department.

The hospital’s plans hinge on ongoing talks and regulatory clearance. Should the takeover succeed, investment in new infrastructure will become a priority. No timeline for a decision has been announced.
