SkinBioTherapeutics CEO resigns amid misconduct probe as board seeks replacement
SkinBioTherapeutics plc has announced the resignation of its CEO, Stuart Ashman, following concerns over his conduct. The company has suspended him before his departure and is now launching a full investigation into the matter.
Ashman took over as CEO in 2024, replacing Professor Cath O'Neill. Before this, he led the Finnish medtech firm Onbone Oy for a decade, from 2014 to 2024. With over 20 years in commercial healthcare, mainly in medical devices, he brought extensive experience to the role.
Last year, the company strengthened its leadership by appointing Simon Hewitson as chief operating officer and board member, alongside Emily Bertram as finance director. Now, following Ashman's exit, the board is searching for both an interim and a permanent replacement.
Martin Hunt, currently the non-executive chair, will step in as executive chair on a temporary basis. He will work closely with the remaining board members and senior leadership during the transition.
The firm has confirmed a thorough review of the situation. Hunt's temporary promotion aims to ensure stability while the search for new leadership continues. A permanent CEO is expected to be named in due course.
