This is what her son Simon Verhoeven says - Senta Berger, 84, fractures thighbone in fall during Hamburg soundcheck
Veteran actress Senta Berger, 84, has suffered a thighbone fracture after a fall during a soundcheck in Hamburg. The injury forced the cancellation of her planned readings of Loriot’s Scenes of a Marriage in Hamburg and Kiel. Despite the setback, her upcoming film role remains a highlight of her long career.
The accident occurred while Berger prepared for a performance. She was hospitalised and later underwent surgery for the fracture. Her son, director Simon Verhoeven, described her as resilient, noting she is coping well under the circumstances.
Her recovery is now the main focus for family and friends. Meanwhile, Berger’s next on-screen appearance will be in Oh, That Gap, That Dreadful Gap, due for release on January 29. In the film, she plays Inge, the grandmother of the protagonist, Joachim.
Reflecting on her career, Berger has stated that she alone will decide when to step back from acting. She has even suggested that if this latest role were to be her final one, she would be satisfied with how her journey ends.
Berger’s scheduled readings have been called off, but her film remains on track for late January. With surgery completed, her recovery will determine future plans. For now, supporters and colleagues continue to prioritise her health and well-being.
