Scientists Unveil 'Elixir of Youth' Made from Earthworms and Insects

Scientists at Omsk State Technical University have unveiled an innovative anti-ageing skincare product. Presented on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, the formula uses earthworms and insect extracts to promote skin health. Researchers claim its benefits have earned it the nickname 'elixir of youth'.

The project is led by Associate Professor Svetlana Chachina, alongside Elizaveta Denisova, Irina Evsyutina, and Daria Zimina. Their work focuses on earthworms cultivated on industrial waste, requiring minimal water and energy. This sustainable approach provides the raw materials for the product.

The key ingredient is coelomic fluid, extracted from earthworms. This fluid contains proteins with cytolytic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. It also delivers essential amino acids and vitamins that aid skin regeneration. The team has combined the fluid with insect extract to create the final formula. Early results have shown strong potential, earning the project recognition in the ROST Accelerated Development Program.

The product's sustainable production and claimed skin benefits set it apart in the cosmetics industry. Its development marks a step toward eco-friendly skincare solutions. Further testing will determine its long-term effectiveness and market viability.
