Schloss Rheydt Museum honors noblewomen on International Women's Day with a free guided tour

Schloss Rheydt Museum will host a special guided tour on International Women's Day, March 8. The main event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and focuses on the lives of noblewomen from the von Bylandt family.

The tour explores the daily routines, social roles, and influence of aristocratic women in the Early Modern period. Visitors will see artefacts displayed in the castle's historic rooms, offering insights into their living conditions and opportunities.

The von Bylandt family governed Rheydt from 1500 onwards. While records document their women's experiences, broader historical trends across centuries remain less detailed. The museum's exhibits highlight these gaps while showcasing available evidence.

Entry to the museum includes free participation in the guided tour. Children and young people under 18 also receive free admission to the museum itself.

The event coincides with International Women's Day, providing a chance to examine noblewomen's historical roles. Free admission for under-18s and included tour access aim to encourage wider participation. The main event runs for one hour, starting at 11:30 a.m.
