Schiffdorf's new Regional Supply Center unites healthcare and social services under one roof
A new Regional Supply Center (RVZ) is set to open in Schiffdorf, expanding services from the existing Nordholz location. The project aims to bring medical care, social support, and everyday essentials under one roof. Funding of €1.2 million will help develop the site, which promises easier access for residents across the southern district. The RVZ Schiffdorf will house at least one extra doctor's practice alongside existing medical services. Telemedicine and non-physician practice assistants (NAPAs) are expected to cut down on travel time for patients while improving overall care. Medical-adjacent offerings, including physiotherapy and a pharmacy, will also be available on-site.
Beyond healthcare, the centre will consolidate key public services. A youth welfare contact point will serve the southern district, while day care and assisted living options will provide support for families and older adults. The local social services station will move into the building, making it a hub for community needs. Accessibility was a priority in planning the location. The site can be reached easily on foot, by bus, or by car, ensuring residents face fewer barriers to essential services.
The expansion brings €1.2 million in funding to Schiffdorf, with construction set to integrate medical, social, and administrative functions. Once complete, the centre will reduce travel demands and streamline access to care, welfare, and daily necessities. No further details have been released about additional RVZ projects in Lower Saxony.
