Palace Reports Intervention on Face and Head - Prince Albert II of Monaco undergoes minor dermatological procedure
Prince Albert II of Monaco recently underwent a minor medical procedure on his head and face. The treatment, described as routine, was part of a dermatological check-up for a benign condition. The monarch, who has ruled Monaco since 2005, required only a few stitches and continued with his usual duties without disruption.
The procedure was first mentioned publicly by Princess Charlène, the prince’s wife, during a recent update. It involved a short, planned intervention to address a non-serious skin issue. Despite the minor nature of the treatment, it marked the first time such a medical detail about the 66-year-old sovereign had been shared openly.
Prince Albert has led Monaco for nearly two decades, celebrating his 20th anniversary on the throne in 2022. Alongside his official duties, he and Princess Charlène have raised 11-year-old twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella. As the heir apparent, Prince Jacques stands next in line to succeed his father. The royal family has faced health challenges in recent years. In 2021, Princess Charlène struggled with a severe ear, nose, and throat infection, coupled with exhaustion, which temporarily limited her public appearances. By 2022, her condition had improved, allowing her to gradually return to official engagements. That same year, Prince Albert spoke to People magazine, highlighting his wife’s recovery and resilience.
The prince’s procedure caused no delays in his schedule, reflecting its straightforward nature. With his health unaffected, he continues to fulfil his role as Monaco’s head of state. Meanwhile, the royal family remains active in public life, with Princess Charlène’s return to duties marking a positive turn after her earlier health struggles.
