Pervouralsk Unveils Russia's First Designer Maternity Suite for Stress-Free Births

Eight maternity hospitals in the region will open designer delivery suites styled after the Antique Palace, Garden, Sea, and Forest themes to encourage women to have more children. The first such suite opened today, February 26, in Pervouralsk.

Governor Denis Pasler, Health Minister Tatiana Savinova, Federation Council Senator Viktor Shepty, businessman Andrei Simanovsky, and Pervouralsk Mayor Igor Kabets attended the opening. The modern, comfortable delivery rooms at the city's perinatal center were completed after a record-fast 30-day renovation. The concept was proposed by Health Minister Tatiana Savinova.

This is the Urals' first perinatal center to feature delivery suites designed with a "salutogenic" approach—an environment aimed at reducing stress and creating optimal conditions for women in labor. The facility will serve nine municipalities in Sverdlovsk Oblast's Western District, including Krasnoufimsk.

"Our goal is to create beautiful rooms like these in every maternity hospital across the region. It's crucial for women to feel comfortable, to experience less pain, and to enjoy the presence of their partner nearby... This will undoubtedly improve the health of newborns as well. When a mother feels calm and at ease during childbirth, it directly benefits the baby," Savinova explained.

The materials used in the design are regularly sanitized. Other maternity hospitals will feature suites inspired by the "Malachite Casket" theme. "We have many ideas tied to the natural beauty of the Urals," the minister added.

The Sima-Land company developed the design, oversaw renovations, and supplied furniture, digital equipment, and lighting. Simanovsky personally "immersed himself in the design process" and supervised the work, Savinova noted.

For comparison, here is what standard delivery rooms in the same hospital look like:

Ten more maternity hospitals in the region will be replaced with urgent care wards, primarily in towns and villages with low birth rates.
