Ohio State probes Dr. Mark Landon's ties to Jeffrey Epstein's financial network
Ohio State University is investigating Dr. Mark Landon after his name appeared in documents linked to Jeffrey Epstein. The gynecologist worked as a paid consultant for Epstein's firm between 2001 and 2005. He has since denied any knowledge of criminal activity during that time.
Dr. Landon's consulting role involved biotech investments for the New York Strategy Group. His work took place years before Epstein was listed as a registered sex offender in 2008. The doctor has stated that his duties never included patient care.
Emails from 2006 reveal discussions about payments to Dr. Landon. Epstein's attorney, Darren Indyke, mentioned quarterly sums of $30,000. Epstein later confirmed an annual payment of $75,000 to the doctor.
Since his consulting period, Dr. Landon has advanced in his medical career. He now serves as Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center. His speciality remains in Maternal Fetal Medicine.
The university's investigation follows the release of the Epstein files, which listed Dr. Landon's financial ties. He maintains that he was unaware of any wrongdoing during his consulting years. The outcome of the review could affect his current position at the medical centre.
