New Dental Health Passport Launched for Pregnant Women in Germany
A new dental health passport for pregnant women has been launched by Our City Portal. The initiative aims to improve oral care during pregnancy by providing key information and tracking check-ups. So far, only a few German cities have adopted similar schemes, with no nationwide rollout in place.
The passport is designed to fit inside the standard maternal health record, known as the Mutterpass. It documents dental visits in the first and third trimesters while offering advice on maintaining good oral hygiene. Women can collect it from gynaecological practices.
The booklet is now available in six languages: German, English, Arabic, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Romanian. Alongside the physical passport, a companion website—www.ourwebsite/dental-health-pregnancy—provides additional resources. Our City Portal developed the project with support from other organisations. As of March 2026, only select cities like Berlin and Hamburg have tested similar programmes. No official count exists, and no plans for a countrywide system have been announced.
The dental health passport offers pregnant women structured guidance on oral care. It includes check-up records and multilingual tips to support dental hygiene. For now, the scheme remains limited to specific regions, with no broader expansion confirmed.
