New Crisis Centre Opens for Women Facing Domestic Violence in Komi
A new crisis centre for women facing domestic violence or financial hardship will open at the end of May. The facility, announced by Tatiana Kozlova, the Children’s Rights Commissioner for the Republic of Komi, aims to provide urgent support and social rehabilitation for vulnerable women in the region. The centre will operate with two main units: one for women with children and another for those without housing. Upon arrival, a crisis psychologist will be the first point of contact, ensuring immediate emotional support. Confidentiality is guaranteed, and services include help with residency registration, childcare placement, and medical assistance.
The facility is designed to assist women dealing with prolonged psychological trauma. It promotes recovery through shared living spaces and a system of mutual support among residents. The centre also works closely with other agencies to offer comprehensive care. A similar crisis centre is set to open in Ukhta on May 29, with plans for further facilities in other municipalities. The initiative reflects a broader effort to expand support networks for women in difficult situations across the region.
The new centre will provide structured assistance to women in crisis, from emergency shelter to long-term rehabilitation. By coordinating with local services and ensuring privacy, it aims to help residents rebuild stability. Additional centres in nearby areas will follow the same model in the coming weeks.
