Unlike traditional methods, where drugs like 5-fluorouracil leave the body too quickly, this system ensures a steady dose, cutting down on the need for high, toxic amounts.

The magnetic particles serve two key purposes. Doctors can track the drug’s location in real-time and control its release. They can also heat the particles to boost the treatment’s effectiveness. As the carrier breaks down naturally in the body, it releases iron particles, which may offer extra anticancer benefits. Researchers have also refined a way to customise the carrier for individual patients. This step moves chemotherapy closer to personalised treatment, where dosages and delivery can be adjusted based on specific needs.

The new material could make chemotherapy less harsh by lowering drug doses and minimising side effects. Its ability to dissolve safely in the body while providing real-time monitoring gives doctors more control over treatment. This approach may soon offer a more targeted and patient-friendly way to fight cancer.
