Mönchengladbach's Clinic Leads Germany in Maternity Care for a Decade

Mönchengladbach's Mother-Child Clinic has once again proven its standing as a leading maternity hospital in Germany. In 2025, the clinic recorded 3,414 births, maintaining its position as the busiest in North Rhine-Westphalia for the tenth year running. Behind this success lies a combination of expert care, advanced training, and a dedicated team of medical professionals.

The clinic, part of the Städtischen Kliniken Mönchengladbach, handled 3,496 deliveries in 2024 before seeing a slight dip to 3,414 in 2025. Despite a general decline in birth rates, trust in the facility remains strong, with an average of eight to ten babies born daily. Its reputation extends beyond routine births, as demonstrated by 94 twin deliveries in 2025 alone, showcasing expertise in high-risk and multiple pregnancies.

As a Level 1 Perinatal Center, the clinic provides the highest standard of care for complex cases. The team includes over 40 permanent midwives and 27 physicians, supported by eight modern labour rooms. Dr. René Bogesits-Aufschneider, Chief Physician of Gynecology and Obstetrics, credits the clinic's achievements to the commitment of the entire obstetrics team.

The hospital's approach blends compassionate care with cutting-edge medicine. To uphold these standards, the Municipal Hospitals invest in continuous training through their in-house SAM Simulation Center and SGN Nursing School. This focus on education and innovation has helped the clinic rank sixth nationwide in Germany's 2025 maternity hospital rankings.

The Mother-Child Clinic continues to attract expectant parents from across the region. Its ability to manage high-risk pregnancies, maintain high delivery volumes, and adapt to changing birth trends reinforces its role as a key healthcare provider. With ongoing investment in staff training and modern facilities, the clinic remains a trusted name in maternal and infant care.
