Maharashtra Explores Tech-Driven Healthcare Solutions After Study Tour To Uttar Pradesh's Innovative Health Models

Maharashtra eyes UP's tech-driven healthcare model for major reforms

Maharashtra is looking to upgrade its healthcare system by adopting technology-driven solutions inspired by Uttar Pradesh. A delegation from the state recently visited Uttar Pradesh to study its digital health models and emergency response systems. Officials believe these innovations could improve healthcare delivery for Maharashtra’s residents. During the study tour, Maharashtra’s team reviewed Uttar Pradesh’s digital healthcare platforms. These included the e-Kavach system, the Unified Disease Surveillance Portal, and the UP Health Command Centre. They also examined the Mantra Application and the e-RUPI Voucher system, which streamline health services and payments.

The delegation took a close look at Uttar Pradesh’s emergency ambulance network. The state’s 102 and 108 services achieve an average response time of just seven minutes. Free dialysis, CT scans, and teleradiology services—delivered through a Public-Private Partnership—were also highlighted as key successes. Uttar Pradesh’s implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission was another focus. The state’s fast, transparent, and tech-enabled systems impressed Maharashtra’s officials. They now plan to send a dedicated team for a deeper assessment of these models. Maharashtra aims to adapt similar initiatives to strengthen its own healthcare infrastructure. The goal is to bring faster, more efficient services to its citizens through technology and improved governance.

The study tour has set the stage for Maharashtra to explore new healthcare strategies. A follow-up team will soon visit Uttar Pradesh to assess how these systems can be tailored for the state. If adopted, the changes could lead to quicker emergency responses, better digital health records, and more accessible medical services.
