Magadan's free workshops empower expectant mothers with expert advice

A series of workshops called School for Expectant Mothers recently took place at Magadan's Central City Library. Organised as part of a regional health initiative, the sessions covered everything from pregnancy health to emotional well-being. Leading experts in medicine, psychology, and childcare shared their knowledge with soon-to-be parents.

The event brought together specialists in obstetrics, paediatrics, and psychology. Obstetrician-gynecologist Aleksandra Kulzhinskaya explained the physical changes women experience during pregnancy and the recovery process after childbirth. Psychologist Natalia Utrobina then focused on the emotional challenges of motherhood, offering strategies for managing stress and adjusting to life with a newborn.

Practical advice came from Tatyana Noskova and Karina Isaykina, who led sessions on prenatal yoga and balanced nutrition. Ekaterina Osadchaya, a consultant in breastfeeding and infant sleep, provided guidance on establishing healthy routines for babies. Meanwhile, Tatyana Kolesnikova outlined the paperwork and social benefits available to new families, ensuring parents understood their rights and support options. One workshop also addressed hospital preparation, detailing what to pack and how to approach the birthing experience with confidence. The initiative aligns with Russia's national projects *Family* and *Long and Active Life*, reinforcing regional efforts to support maternal and child health.

The School for Expectant Mothers formed part of a broader programme backed by the Magadan Region's Ministry of Health. While attendance figures for the March sessions remain undisclosed, the workshops aimed to equip parents with essential knowledge and resources. Further events under the same project may follow in the coming months.
