Lübeck's St. Lorenz Pool Launches Year-Round Aqua Gymnastics in 2026

St. Lorenz Sports Pool in Lübeck to Offer Permanent Aqua Gymnastics Prevention Courses from March 2026

Starting March 2, 2026, the St. Lorenz Sports Pool in Lübeck will permanently introduce aqua gymnastics prevention courses under the name St. Lorenz Aqua Fitness. The program is made possible through a partnership with the Institute for Holistic Health Concepts and, according to organizers, consists of courses certified under Section 20 of Germany's Social Security Code (SGB V). Training will take place in the pool designated for aqua fitness.

The courses are aimed at individuals looking to improve their health, prevent pain, and engage in joint-friendly exercise. The water-based workouts are designed to provide full-body training, leveraging natural resistance to simultaneously enhance endurance, strength, and mobility. Special emphasis is placed on the back, joints, posture, recovery, and overall well-being.

To add variety, the aqua fitness sessions incorporate small equipment such as dumbbells, pool noodles, and resistance belts. The program also includes cardiovascular training to boost everyday fitness and energy levels. According to the announcement, the courses are particularly suitable for older adults, people with overweight conditions, and anyone seeking to integrate more movement into their daily routine.

Since the courses are certified, many statutory health insurance providers may cover up to 100 percent of the costs, as stated by the organizers. Participants first register and pay for the course themselves. Upon successful completion, they receive a certificate that can be submitted to their health insurance for reimbursement.

Classes will be held on Mondays at 9:30 AM, 10:30 AM, and 4:00 PM. Registration is now open online via the Institute for Holistic Health Concepts' website. Additional details on pricing and participation requirements are also available through Lübeck's public swimming pools. Interested individuals can secure their spot and choose a time that fits their schedule.
