Krefeld's Drug Support Centre Offers Lifeline to Homeless and Addicted

A drug support centre in Krefeld is making a difference for people battling addiction and homelessness. The facility, which serves between 50 and 80 regular clients from Krefeld and nearby Meerbusch, provides essential services to some of the most vulnerable in the region. Recently, it received a financial boost from a local donation campaign called Centspende. The centre offers a safe, supervised space for drug use, staffed by emergency medical responders. Clients also have access to counselling, laundry facilities, showers, and meals. Many of those who visit struggle with severe addiction and lack stable housing.

Alongside the centre, Caritas Krefeld and Diakonie have run the *Medi-Mobil* since 2003. This mobile medical unit visits designated spots once a week, providing healthcare to homeless individuals. Four volunteer doctors accompany the van, offering consistent care and building trust with those in need. Jasmin Sprünken, the centre’s director, thanked Meerbusch’s municipal administration staff council for their *Centspende* donation. Michael Marschall, chair of the council, has publicly backed the centre’s work, particularly its support for those with severe addictions.

The drug support centre and Medi-Mobil continue to provide critical aid to homeless and addicted individuals in Krefeld and Meerbusch. With expanded funding and volunteer efforts, these services help address both immediate health needs and long-term stability for vulnerable groups in the area.
