Krasnoyarsk expands free IVF and screenings to combat rising infertility crisis

Krasnoyarsk Territory has seen a steady rise in infertility cases among women, with around 3,500 new diagnoses each year. The region is now expanding support through free IVF treatments and new screening programmes to address reproductive health challenges. In 2025, female infertility rates in the territory reached 7.8 cases per 1,000 people. To tackle this, Krasnoyarsk Interdistrict Clinical Hospital No. 4 has been tracking the success of infertility treatments. Between 2023 and 2025, the region carried out 5,069 IVF and ICSI cycles, leading to 1,249 pregnancies and 828 births.

In 2025 alone, 1,862 IVF cycles were performed, achieving a 31.7% success rate. This resulted in 468 pregnancies and 318 live births. A dedicated commission at the Krasnoyarsk Perinatal Center reviews patient records to ensure proper access to assisted reproductive technologies. The region’s mandatory health insurance (OMC) policy covers free IVF as part of Russia’s broader Family national project. Looking ahead, medical centres will introduce reproductive health screenings for residents aged 18 to 49 starting in 2026. Authorities are also considering a 'Healthy Family' joint screening initiative to provide lifestyle guidance for couples.

The expansion of free IVF and new screening programmes aims to improve reproductive health outcomes in Krasnoyarsk. With thousands of infertility cases reported yearly, these measures provide structured support for affected families. The region continues to monitor treatment success while broadening access to medical assistance.
