The City of Koblenz is preparing for a dance demonstration on February 14, 2026, under the slogan Women on Fire – Ni una menos. The event is part of the worldwide One Billion Rising campaign, which protests violence against women and girls. Participants will gather to dance, march, and raise awareness through collective action.
The demonstration will start at Löhrrondell before moving to Zentralplatz, where speeches will take place. It will end with a final dance at Münzplatz. A key moment will be a group performance of Break the Chain, a song symbolising women's right to control their own bodies.
This year's event also marks the launch of the Sporteln gegen Gewalt (Exercise Against Violence) kilometre challenge. Running until March 8, the challenge encourages participants to log active kilometres, with donations supporting Koblenz's women's shelter.
One Billion Rising has seen involvement from over 200 countries in past years. Germany has been particularly active, with events in 160 cities, including Mainz, Halle (Saale), Dortmund, Brake, and Meran. Koblenz's Office for Gender Equality is leading the local effort, continuing the campaign's tradition of grassroots mobilisation.
The demonstration will combine dance, speeches, and fundraising to highlight violence against women. Proceeds from the kilometre challenge will directly aid Koblenz's women's shelter. The event reflects the city's ongoing commitment to the global movement for gender equality.
