Kazakhstan's education system relies on women for 82% of its workforce
Women dominate Kazakhstan’s education sector, accounting for nearly 82% of the workforce. New figures reveal their strong presence across schools, preschools, and specialised institutions. The latest data shows 492,938 women working in education nationwide. The largest group, 342,352, teach in secondary schools. Another 101,789 are employed in preschools, while 29,117 work in vocational and technical schools.
Smaller but significant numbers appear in other areas. Some 13,239 women are in extracurricular education, and 4,059 work in specialised educational institutions. Even in correctional facilities, 2,382 women hold education roles. These numbers highlight the sector’s reliance on female staff. With women filling over four-fifths of positions, their role remains central to Kazakhstan’s education system. The distribution spans early childhood to technical training and beyond.
