President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev addressed a ceremonial event marking International Women's Day, as reported by our website citing the Akorda press service.
In his speech, the president announced that the honorary title "Distinguished Woman of Kazakhstan" would be awarded to Olga Perepechina, deputy speaker of the Senate and a seasoned financial expert, as well as to Mazhilis deputies Snezhana Imasheva and Yekaterina Smyshlyayeva.
"They have earned this prestigious title through their productive legislative work," Tokayev stated. "The same honor is due to Mansiya Babashev, a prominent scholar and innovator in the oil and gas sector. Tatyana Belousova, a chemistry teacher at Almaty's School-Lyceum No. 95—who recently gained international acclaim—also deserves the title Honored Woman of Kazakhstan for Labor. Mazhilis deputy Irina Smirnova, known for her principled stance on civic issues, particularly in education, is equally worthy of this distinction."
The president noted that just last week, Kristina Shumeko became a five-time junior world champion in speed skating, bolstering Kazakhstan's global reputation. She was awarded the Order of Parasat during the ceremony.
The Order of Parasat was also conferred upon Kamal Alpeisova, a renowned writer and translator.
Tokayev highlighted the outstanding contributions of Maria Zeinullina, a veteran of the Scientific and Production Center "Kazakhstan Reserve", who dedicated 43 years to nature conservation. Aisulu Shukabayeva, with over 40 years of service in the oil industry, was also recognized for her commitment to the nation's prosperity. Both women were awarded the Order of Kurmet for their unwavering dedication.
The president emphasized that the event was attended by teachers of Kazakh language and literature, whose efforts play a vital role in shaping an educated, creative, and patriotic generation.
